Revisions, Claire

Okay, so this is kind of some progress. I haven't added color yet, but I'm interested to know how people feel about this version compared to the one I posted on Friday. I feel as though the side graphics are much more resolved, and the header typeface is improved (but probably not my final choice).

Feedback please!

first draft and a website

Please ignore what the white text actually says, it's not quite accurate...

Also I found a great website for anyone who's looking for data on specific neighborhoods. You have to scroll pretty far down to find the list of neighborhoods, but it's really insightful! Here's the URL:

Ametrica!

Great thesis project designed to make the metric system more easily understandable. Unfortunately, the site seems to have been abandoned, but I've linked the original post at Swiss Miss HERE.

Vintage Infographic!

This is interesting, an infographic from 1821. Very elegant.

lastgraph

I found this a while back and thought it was pretty fun.

for those of you who use last.fm, this creates a graph of your listening patterns over a chosen duration.

(here's a very small portion of my personal graph, from last summer because I couldn't figure out how to export the pdf as a jpg)

The colors actually show the time periods that different members were active in the band. This would make a great poster!
Michael Paukner has created a great infographic, Big Brothers: Satellites Orbiting Earth. Visually showing which countries own all of the space junk currently orbiting Earth (functional, dysfunctional and floating debris). We apparently have Saturn-envy as we attempt to create rings around our planet.

Depicts digital media weight and capacity. Kind of hard to read because this picture is so small.

Edit 09

Some awesome work from Your Friends, based in Oslo.
...for the norwegian design-seminar Edit 09.effect, hosted by Grafill. The concept and idea is based on the theme effect. An effect is regarded as a concluded result, and can be used as a base for directions chosen while developing. The overall idea was to research a form of “study” on the effect of design, in which the seminars target-group took part in the process of building the identity. A number of questions was answered by the audience and the identity was built upon results from a democratic process.

I think these pieces are a great example of how the infographics can establish the visual identity. They printed across multiple formats, and the data is what made them cohesive (plus some color choices).

Was planning on posting what Aleks did...

I love that infographic about seasonal food!

an Infographic on the History of Gay Marriage Bans from Good

Thought the above was beautiful for the non-traditional imagery used.

and finally,

Enjoyed this one too, because it feels slightly disorganized but is also very engaging.

Great initiative, relevant to our project.
