the fort depot: logos

so last week I had this 826 logo that most people seemed to like:

so I've been working with that to improve my store logo. here's some new sketches, any suggestions?

I hadn't thought of it until now, but I could also just use one of these lockups without the square if the square seems too clunky.

  1. Is this an example of how the mark could be tiled to create a pattern, or is the titling of this element make up the mark?

I think if you unify the spacing between them this is already pretty strong, but I would still like to see something closer to an unfolded box shape, which this is kind of alluding to. Perhaps look at shapes like this: http://4volt.com/Blog/images/4volt_com/Blog/Box%20Folding%20Diagram%20350.jpg

  2. 826 mark is really strong right now. One thing to refine is the spacing/centering of your numerals in your panels. It's just a little bit off right now, but other than that, they look good.

For your store marks, I'm responding strongest to the top 2 directions. The horizontal arrangement contrasts your diamond shaped box nicely.

Of the 2, I prefer the treatment where all the type is centered, and I'd consider tracking out "DEPOT" a bit. It's a little tight right now, and it would hold its own better with the larger "FORT" if so.

    Good refinement on these.
