I'm going to make the packaging out of chipboard and have stickers or things that wrap around for the graphics. is this a good idea?
also, last week it was suggested that I try changing the pattern I was using, I made the rules thinner and closer together in hopes that they might start to read more as a different shade of orange than a pattern. the image below is just a screenshot of the new stripe pattern with the logo on top to get an idea of how the two things work together. thoughts? also, is there an easier way of making patterns like this than copying the lines and trying to place them evenly next to each other?

  1. To make that pattern, make a square that is twice as wide as the space between the lines with no fill and no stroke on it. Using smart guides, run one orange line from the top right to the bottom left corner of the square. Select them both and drag it into the swatches palette. That will make a pattern swatch of your design. Make sure the square is in back, and you can resize the square to change the distance between the lines in the pattern.

  2. If you're still going for a pseudo-Home Depot type style, the chipboard is perfect. It has a real home repair/DIY feel to it. Looks good.

  3. andy- I tried that but the corners of the square made the line cut off so it's not a continuous line. is there a way to fix that? (thanks for the tip, btw. didn't know about that)
