last thursday I still hadn't narrowed down my store products to three and I was hoping to get some feedback from you guys, which of these products seems to be the strongest/weakest? it might not be that difficult for me to make a few extra packages since most of them are going to be relatively simple (only one or two will have much construction to them)
1. the pre-fab fort (cardboard boxes) (the packaging would just be a sticker that would cover any existing address/other information)
2. the (pre-fab) fort decor kit (a set of markers) (I would use the crayola box I bought them in as a template for a box, this would probably be my most difficult packaging)
3. "raw" fort materials (blankets, couch cushions, lamp posts) (the packaging would be belly bands for the blankets and couch cushions, because the blankets/sheets would be donated/secondhand they might come in different patterns. as of now, I'm not sure if I should work with that and let the patterns show or wrap them in newsprint to keep them looking uniform. also, I suppose the lamp posts would use the hangtags we were supposed to design)
4. wall reinforcement (packing tape/spray starch) (the packing tape I have comes with the blade to rip it, which might not be kid-safe so I might rethink that, I'm not sure about the packaging for it yet, but the one I bought with it has a funny triangle thing covering the blade part so I could do something similar to that (pic here), the spray starch would just be a sticker on a spray bottle)
so, my packaging as of now includes: marker box, stickers, belly bands (maybe with plain white wrapping paper), and another mystery-shaped box-ish thing, and hang tags. does this seem too ambitious? which products could I lose?
ALSO, last week I didn't have an idea for a collectors item, but I was thinking I could make a perforated poster of a fold up mini-fort. so someone could cut out the fort and assemble it or just hang the plan for the fort. thoughts?

Perforated poster sounds really cool. I'd love to see what that looks like.
ReplyDeleteFor products, I'm a fan of Pre-Fab fort, decor kit, and fort "mortar", which could be the packing tape. I think the blanket idea is interesting, but really similar to the prefab fort idea.
